FAQ

Regular massage uses the therapist's hands and arms to manipulate muscles to relieve tension, and there is an almost constant touch. Hot stone massage involves the use of smooth, heat retaining volcanic stones that are placed on specific points of the body and used as a massage tool to manipulate muscles to relieve tension and stress. The heat provides an extra layer of relief by soothing sore muscles and relaxing the body. As the stones lose heat they are swapped for fresh hot ones.

Your privacy is paramount; only treatment areas will be exposed, while the rest of your body is covered. Please wear undergarments at all times; disposable options are available.

The stones are natural and unrefined, unlike conventional spa stones that are often dyed and machine tumbled and polished. Stoned on Saturday prioritises natural and organic materials, with a focus on Australian products.

Stoned on Saturday only offers thorough hot stone massages, using untreated, naturally smoothed stones. Unlike regular spas that use machine-carved, dyed stones that are put in a cupboard after each client and never see the light of day for decades, At Stoned on Saturday, the Earth's energy is honoured by meticulously caring for the stones. The tools are recharged weekly in nature and cleansed between every client with moon charged rainwater—guaranteeing an authentic, deeply healing, and comprehensive massage.

Stoned on Saturday will be popping up in various random places throughout South East Queensland. If you want me to come to your area, or if you have a perfect location for me to pop-up in, please follow me on social media and let me know where you are.

The following precautions are taken to ensure your safety: the warmer is a professional hot stone heater with a temperature gauge that heats the stones. There is also a secondary back up thermometer in the heater. The stones are picked up with bare hands, therefore if the stones are going to burn you, they will burn me first! Your feedback is listened to during treatment and the temperature is adjusted accordingly. A medical and health history is taken before treatment to gauge suitability.

Your comfort is always priority. However the nature of pop-up hot stone massage means each day and each pop-up location will be different. This may include parties next door, traffic, strange smells, screaming children outside and uncontrolled temperature! This randomness is what makes the experience fun and unique! so please be prepared for anything, and if you are concerned about this then please contact via email to discuss further before booking.

As a veteran of the industry, my career began in 1993 when I studied a Diploma of Beauty therapy, trained in Swedish massage with an aromatherapy certificate. Since then I studied post graduate massage courses in Hawaiian Lomi Lomi, Hot Stone, Relaxation, Indian Head, Pregnancy, and now studying Remedial Massage. I have worked in hair and beauty salons, my own salon, and in five star day spas in Mooloolaba, Noosa and Brisbane. My connection to nature has been fostered through conservation volunteering and studying a Certificate 3 in Horticulture and Conservation and Land Management, and membership with Therapeutic Horticulture Australia.

The signature hot stone massage starts when you arrive 15 mins prior to your booking, with a consultation and health history. You then prepare for the treatment and get comfortable on the table. The massage is for 90 minutes and concludes with refreshments. You can therefore expect to be at your appointment for a total of around 2 hours. Please allow enough time to gain maximum benefit from your treatment, as rushing will detract from your experience.

The locations will vary greatly and therefore some will be accessible and some not. I will try and publicise accessibility but if you have any questions or special needs please feel free to email me, as I am happy to adapt when possible.

As a temporary pop-up with limited spaces and the large costs involved in travel, set up, and time allowance for such a premium service, it is necessary to have a cancellation policy. Upon booking, a deposit of 50% is payable. The remaining amount is due on arrival at your appointment. If you need to cancel on the Thursday or Friday before your appointment, or on the day of your appointment, the deposit is not refundable unless it can be filled by someone else. So it is recommended that you have a back up plan of giving your treatment to a friend or family member in the case of you falling ill or unforeseen circumstances that prevent you from coming.

Hot Stone massage is not suitable for everybody. If you are under 18, pregnant, or have a condition that affects sensation or circulation such as some skin disorders, high blood pressure, diabetes, blood clots and heart disease or if you are sensitive or to heat, ........unfortunately you are not able to have a hot stone massage. It is also not recommended if you only like super hard massages, have an intolerance to noise, for example the clicking of the stones, or think you may be uncomfortable with the unpredictability of the pop-up location eg external noises or temperature. I welcome queries so please feel free to email me to discuss your suitability. Sometimes a regular day spa with a guaranteed ambience may be more suitable for you, and I will always give an honest and ethical view of whether or not I think this is the case for you.

Particular hygiene methods are followed. The stones and warmer are washed between clients with soapy water and natural disinfectant, then rinsed with moon charged rainwater.

Charging the stones means resetting their physical and energetic properties by returning them to the Earth. Before each Saturday, the volcanic basalt stones are recharged by being buried, washed in the sea or rivers, left outside in the environment, or with smoke. This does two things: clears stagnant energy as basalt stones are highly conductive. The rituals allow the Earth to naturally absorb and clear away any energy from previous sessions. And secondly it restores magnetic frequency: Because these stones are naturally rich in iron and magnetite, leaving them on the ground allows them to reconnect with the Earth’s magnetic field. When placed on your body, you aren't just receiving heat—you are receiving stones freshly realigned with the rhythm of nature. Alongside the heat and weight of the stones, this helps you shed stagnant energy and feel more balanced, and revitalised.

Humans possess an innate connection with nature—a biological phenomenon known as biophilia. For millennia, our ancestors lived in rhythm with the seasons, gathered natural whole foods, and spent time in open, organic environments. Modern life has disconnected us, living inside air-conditioned boxes, wearing synthetic clothes, consuming processed fast food and staring at screens for hours a day.

The above FAQ form part of the terms and conditions. Please take the time to read them and reach out with any questions or concerns before booking as hot stone massage is not suitable for everybody. Hot stone massage is not a replacement for medical advice or treatments.

It is rainwater that is left outdoors overnight under the evening sky. It is used to rinse the stones in between clients after cleaning them with natural disinfectants. This is done for purity, and to add to the energetic reset of the stones for your session.
